The 4 GB card was new and I 'formatted' it by running Maps on my 6303 once. The download problems however, already started with the original 1 GB card which contained Spain only. Two of those files are well protected against transfer (to my PC and thus to the new 4 Gig card). DL of Europe completely stopped after 2%.
Philips PM 6303 LCR Meter Manufacturer Model PM 6303 Date 1990 Category Group Description RCL meter Information The RCL meter is used for measurements of resistances, capacitances and inductances. Providing auto-function and auto-ranging facility the instrument allows fast and high precision measurements of passive components over a wide range. The component under test is directly connected to the instrument, either via a two-terminal test fixture, a four-wire test cable or a four-terminal test adapter. The measurement result, namely numerical value, dimension and the equivalent-circuit symbol, is immediately displayed on a large 4-digit liquid- crystal display (LCD), updated at a rate of two measurements per second. A microprocessor controls the measurement process, computates the measurement value and transfers the result to the display. In the RCL AUTO mode the dominant component, either R, C or L of the component under test is automatically selected for display.
RCL AUTO is also the default mode of the instrument after power- on. For an inductance e.g. With quality factor 500 Q 1 the instruments indicates the measurement value of the series inductance and as equivalent-circuit symbol the series connection of a resistance and an inductance. In addition to the RCL AUTO mode with display of the dominating component 8 further parameters can be selected by 2 pushbuttons providing a stepping function, whereby the appropriate parameter is marked by a LED: Quality factor Q, dissipation factor D, parallel resistance Rp. series resistance Rs, impedance Z, parallel capacitance Cp or parallel inductance Lp, series capacitance Cs or series inductance Ls.
series capacitance, internally biased Cs (2 V BIAS), The instrument is especially suited for use in laboratories, for quality control, service workshops and for education purposes. For ten days I've been trying to get the maps for Europe on my 4 GB µSD card. With the larger country files the DL stops between 40% and 99,3% (Yes indeed) There obviously is no resume function on the Nokia Server nor inside the Maps Downloader (like FTP servers do have) thus I have to start all over again. It took a lot of patience and even more luck as well. For some countries I had to retry 17 times and for about 1 GB of country files my DU-meter indicates a 5 GB DL traffic. By now I have almost all European countries except: England 89,5 MB (Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are OK) Finland (of all countries!) 91,5 MB Poland 71,2 MB It makes no difference whether I start downloading maps from the PC-Suite or directly under Windows XP (SP3) Two weeks ago I had the same problem with another 6303 which I returned to the webshop.
The original 1 GB µSD card on both models has the same download problem. Some voice files DL's were OK. The LD-4W did find my 'Current location' and I could save that Adresses of friends in Holland and in Spain were found easily. Data: Phone: Nokia 6303 classic (Map version 0.0.13h) This 6303 runs SW v.10.10 in PC-Suite mode via USB cable. I had NP with the SW update from v.9.10 (out of the box) to v.10.10, but v.9.10 had the same problem. Map Loader version 3.0.28.0 PC-Suite version 7.1.40.1 I will.not.
quote the girl from the Nokia care centre. Any ideas anybody? Firstly did you just click on Europe for the download of is it 1.4Gb and only tried expanding into constituent countries after it failed? With my similar 3720 Classic S40 6th Ed. Device I seem to remember initially copying contents of enclosed 1 Gb microSD to larger 4 Gb after enabling 'Show hidden & system files' on PC first, then utilizing delete existing maps in Nokia Maploader application before downloading Europe as a single entity. As far as I recall on the enclosed 1Gb memory card in the UK all European voices were pre-installed together with UK maps. Happy to have helped forum in a small way with a Support Ratio = 37.0.
Tnx scoobyman. I had to break up Europe into the countries and then break up the major countries into their parts. I really didn't want to do that because I read in this Board that it'll give problems in navigating 'across borders'.
Italy was no problem whatsoever, nor were most country files smaller than 50 MB. Guess I was very lucky that Sweden (80 MB) worked after 5 tries. The England part of the UK is IMPOSSIBLE. (As are Poland and Finland.) My traffic counter on England alone exceeds 2 GB!
BTW: I shut down my firewall (ZA) and the XP firewall. I also closed all background programs that might try for Internet access (such as Skype and MSN). All to no avail. All I can think of is that something -a special character sequence- in these three country files stops the data transfer. Maybe in my ADSL modem?
As such I was thinking along the lines of changing the packet size of the TCP/IP protocol. Which I succesully did years ago with Windows 98 SE and a dial-up modem. Scoobyman: Whereas I am reluctant to advocate installation of Nokia bloatware such as OVI Suite on your Xp machine, this is perhaps another avenue to explore. I had bad experience when trying to load maps using OVI suite.
The transfer ended with an annoucement that the internet connection is lost. I have a quite reliable ADSL connection and have not had any problems in loading maps with the older Map loader. (Moreover you can load all of Europe at once withMap loader but only one countru at a time with OVI.) OVI suite can tell (unlike older Map loader) which maps I have loaded to my phone but the list it gives me is somewhat strange. I wonder if Map loader and OVI suite are slightly incompatible.
